A3S - leveling screw not long enough

Just got an A3S. First time trying to level the bed, and the thumbscrew for point 4 has literally screwed off the threads entirely and the bed still isn't close enough at that point. How can I adjust the Z-stop down a couple of mm so I gain a little more range on the screws?
A longer screw won't help, since it's completely free at the moment and the spring still isn't pushing the bed up high enough.

I mistakenly thought the mount for the Z-stop didn't have screw slots. Turns out it does. I just loosened the mount and pushed the stop down a bit. Now all the leveling screws are within their ranges.
So you know, this problem is mentioned on the wiki A5 FAQ page:
