Extruder Clicking W/ Faster Speed

SomeoneYouLikeSomeoneYouLike Posts: 38🌟 Super Member 🌟
Hello!

I seem to be getting clicking noise only with 50+ mm/s. If I go slower the clicking goes away. I tried adjusting the temperatures but didn't really help.Β

Any suggestions?

    Hmm. Is the Bowden tube kinked or bent? Can you pass filament down it manually without too much resistance? You could try add a drop of canola oil to the Bowden tubing, that helped some people.

    This is how the Bowden tube looks like. I'll try manually pushing down filament when that print is over. @Samuel Pinches

    It also looks like a fairly sharp angle coming out of the extruder... hmmm

    Only had to push in moderate force for the filament to come out.Β

    Is the clicking the motor skipping steps, or is the filament slipping on the gear?

    I believe filament slipping on the gear. @Samuel Pinches

    Can you see any way to adjust the spring pressure of the idler wheel against the filament?

    @Samuel Pinches
    and I don't know how to.

    Looks like the motor is skipping steps judging by the gear stuttering like that

    I'm sorry, I don't know there is much I can suggest from here - the motor stepper driver current is not adjustable, which is a limitation of the motherboard design sadly. But I suspect there must be something causing more friction than usual along the filament path.

    Do you think maybe replacing the extruder would help? Also replacing the nozzle just in case there is a partial clog? @Samuel Pinches

    I really don't know sorry, but I expect tinkering with the nozzle might be a good place to start. You can also take the PTFE tubing outside of the back corrugated pipe, to help it run more smoothly with less sharp turns.
