JG Aurora A5 Z-Axis Jamming Problem

HindawiHindawi Posts: 5Member
Good Day,

Please help me, I have a huge problem with my printer. When I try to move the Z-axis up it  moves as if it is stuck! Please see this you tube video (https://youtu.be/XaNJxODm6uw) so that you understand.

Thank you!

    Hello @Hindawi,

Thanks for the video, that is really helpful to see what issue you are experiencing.

    There are few possible causes:

    1. The X-axis may be off-level.
The x-axis needs to be level with the main chassis, otherwise the friction on the vertical rails is significantly increased, which can cause the z-jamming you are seeing.

    2. There may be no lubrication on the z-axis lead screws
I would recommend adding a lubricant for the z-axis lead screws, this will help the z-axis to move more smoothly, and prevent z-jamming. More information on recommended lubricants is on the wiki here: https://jgaurorawiki.com/lubrication

    3. The current on the z-axis stepper driver may be too low.
The stepper drivers (chips that run the motors) have adjustable power. Information on tuning the power for the stepper drivers is on the wiki here: https://jgaurorawiki.com/a5/stepper-drivers

Thank you very much for responding @Samuel Pinches ,

what do you think explains why moving downwards is not a problem? I tried separating the motors and connecting them to the plug without the screw and they worked fine (which probably rules out the stepper driver theory). I fear it might be the linear bearing. I'll try to put some Vaseline or oil for lubrication, hopefully i'll update you if I knew what was wrong.

Please let me know if you got any new ideas regarding the matter.

Because moving down has the assistance of gravity 😃

All is good now...thanks for the help! it seemed like there was some packaging leftovers blocking the Z screws.
