Starting heat settings

I am wondering how to change the starting heat settings to avoid having to punch the screen so many times when pre-heating. When the machine is turned on the heat settings (for example) are 18/0. It seams the factory firmware started at something like 18/180 and 18/50. I’ve seen others photos and videos and it looks like they start at about the same settings and then take just a few presses to get to 195 and 65. I’m not sure why mine is different. Any ideas? Thanks.

You could make a simple gcode file for preheating?

How would the gcode be read by just turning the printer on? I thought it would be something in the config file.

It wouldn't be read when turning on the printer... I mean you could create a gcode file that you "print" to preheat your printer to the correct temperature for a specific material. Perhaps I'm not understanding what you're trying to do. Maybe this is an LCD firmware thing.

Yes, I think it changed when I upgrade the lcd firmware. When I turn the printer on, the temps now read:

Extruder: 18/0        Bed: 18/0

To pre-heat to 195 and 60 it takes a bunch of button presses to get there. I think before the upgrade, when I turned the printer on the temps read:

Extruder: 18/180    Bed: 18/50

It used to require just a few button presses to get to the desired temps. I hope I’m explaining it adequately. Thanks for the patience.

That second number is simply the current “target” temperature. If you can set the temperature to a closer target temperature (e.g using a preheat gcode script) then you can adjust the target temp more easily from there. The target temp should not be above zero for any firmware when you turn the printer on. 

There is an option from memory to turn on the nozzle heater... I think it does that when you go to change filament? Maybe have another poke around in the menu?

I guess I’m still not explaining it right. If you look at Da Hai,s first review of the A5 from Dec 28 2017 at the 8:28 mark after he first turns the printer on, he hits the pre-heat button. The target temps ARE above zero. The temps read 20/180 and 20/50. The heaters are not yet heating. So to heat to 190 (assuming 10 degree increments is selected) it would take one press of the + button and the heater would turn on and begin heating to 190. The same sequence for the bed to heat to 60. 

So if Da Hai were turning on my printer with the community firmware when he would hit the pre-heat button the temps would read 20/0 and 20/0. It would take 19 presses of the + button to get to 190 to turn the extruder heater on and 6 presses of the + button to get to 60 to turn the bed heater on.

Yep, I see what you mean now. I'm sorry - I don't know why the factory firmware has it like that, or how we could achieve that with the community firmware.

So you mean it’s not just my printer but everybody with community firmware? And it isn’t something in the config file?  I was hoping somebody else would chime in if their printer does the same thing. It’s not a problem, just an inconvenience.
