do you know if the extruder fan is connected to the 12 / 24V output directly on board? The
background is, I could measure it, but it is not so easy due to the
structure of the printer and I like also operate this fan via the RRD Fan
Extender. A 12V fan 30x30, matching the RRD Fan Extender is ordered.
Thats true Samuel, in the standard variation there are 24V fan's in.
I have wrote that i build an RRD fan extender in, to control the fan for the driver.
This RRD have his own power conection and it be can use only with max. 20V
And so the 24V from the power box is too much.
This is the reason why i used an StepDown from 24V to 12V and an 12V fan for
the driver cooling.
The RRD can control two fan's over Marlin about the pin 11 and 6.
So i like to control the extruder fan also with the RRD and for this i must change the standard fan from 24V to 12V.
And on this way, i have a silent printer and save power when the printer is only powered on and not on printing.
Marlin powered bouth fan's on when a print jop wil started and powered off, when the motors are inaktiv and no extrution is runing.
I have found also, that the 5V fan's and the 24V standard fan for extruder bring's not so much
air performance as the 12V fan's which i have bought for testing.
And when you now say, more air performance for the extruder can be dangeres, then i give you the answer, yes it can be, but never know's realy, so i make the tests and will see and with RRD the fan on pin 11 can controlled also over the speed.
