Auto bed leveling

demillertimedemillertime Posts: 35๐ŸŒŸ Super Member ๐ŸŒŸ
I just completed the auto bed leveling mod and everything went pretty straight forward. Not too difficult. I tried running it though and my extruded is extruding quite a distance away from the bed. Do I just need to adjust my z start down closer? Or is there something else going wrong here?

Yes, you need to set your z-offset:

Then save to eeprom, and then rerun auto bed levelling.

Not yet, a couple people have been talking about it but not a full one. If noone does I will possibly do one when i get my z offset figured out

Thanks Sam. I manually connected and sent the commands then lowered the Z axis to 0 until i felt resistance on the supplied green card. Ended up going with -1.7. Will let you know how it goes!

I canโ€™t say with definite certainty, but it looks like it should. They claim compatibility with the e3d V6 nozzle standard, Which I have had good luck with using on the A5.

    Have a look here:
    https://www.antclabs.com/bltouch

I have not tried it... I think there are two wires as a z endstop switch, and three wires for the servo connection.

servo connection on the MKS Gen l is on the bottom right.

Does the printer come with the auto bed leveling feature? If so, how do you start the bed leveling process?

@BananaBruno19 - welcome! No, from factory it is manual bed levelling. There is an assistant, but it is not able to correct for non-flat beds. With community firmware you get manual mesh bed levelling, and some people have added hardware modifications (bed levelling sensor) for full auto mesh bed levelling.

    Pretty good video!
You'll need a mount. If you don't mind losing the front panel, I went with this one for 0 offset in the X direction:

The wires that come with the sensor are going to be too short. You'll either have to create an extension or buy one.
