Lubricating the sliding rods

I try to do some maintenance by applying some light oil on the rods. It's fairly easy with the X rods, but the Y ones are almost impractical since I pretty much have to remove all covers of the base to get to them. I tried to use a long, skinny brush to apply through the slots on the sides, but that's only on one side and still awkward to do. Is there a better way to lubricate the Y rods?
Now I can see the drawbacks of the JGAurora design. It looks nice and neat with enclosed design (compared to other open designs like that of the Creality CR-10), but it's not convenient when it comes to mods and maintenance.
